Top tips for your family portrait shoot at Fuji Image Studios

The family portrait is one of the most special photographs you’ll ever own. From bringing the grandparents to grandchildren, the photo shoot also looks to be a stressful task. Let’s not forget the process of actually getting everyone to co-operate for one day. It’s enough to drive you insane!

But insanity shouldn’t be the mood of the day, as insanity does not make good photographs. You will want to avoid everyone looking miserable, perplexed, and putting on those fake smiles. Nothing is more disastrous and evident than a fake smile and a forced pose.

At Fuji Image Studios, we want you to get the real family portrait. The family portrait should be a fun and relaxing experience for all involved. You and your family will spend 1 hour in a spacious, state-of-the-art studio where you will make fun filled memories and have the photographic experience of a life time! Fuji Image Studios looks to bring back the fun and authenticity in the family portrait, with a contemporary approach.

There have been many attempts in the past to make family portraits more “light-hearted”, to help break the formality. Unfortunately, these usually resulted in disaster, as the props or accessories didn’t really look to bring out individual character or accentuate the picture. This led to a waste of money, embarrassment and it eventually led to the family portrait becoming unpopular and being classified as “cheesy”.

DO:

Here are some handy tips to consider before coming to you Family Photo Shoot at Fuji Image Studios:

Bring little props, accessories, and other special paraphernalia that look to bring out your outfit, hint at your personality or   would just look great in a photograph.

Encourage your kids to bring their favorite toy or sporting equipment.

Bring the pets too. They’re also part of the family!

Have fun with matching jewelry, shades and clothing for some fabulous fun. A bigger variety also helps to better accentuate each individual.

Wear comfortable clothes; this allows you to be natural, and the kids will be happy too.

DON’T:

These are some mistakes people usually make when taking the family photograph. So avoid the cheese and don’t:

Don’t create a theme. This does tend to override the family itself, and usually ends up looking lame.

Only bring cuddly toys if you over 12 years old please.

Do not bring too much things, and stick with one object per person.

You should avoid bringing the same object for everyone. Your hobby is not everyone else’s.

Please do not dress up in costume for a family portrait. Mom or Dad’s private fantasy will not be funny in ten years time.

Your family portrait is not a CD cover or a movie poster, so don’t over glamourize.

And lastly, do not include celebrity images or popular mascots in your family portrait, or wear them on your clothes. You are representing your family, not a superstar.
